Services & Systems

Electrician

Installs wiring, lighting, and electrical systems.

Pathway:

  • Certificate III in Electrotechnology (Apprenticeship)
  • QLD Electrical Licence required

School subjects:

Planning & Design

Architect/Building Designer

Designs the home layout, structure, and aesthetics

Pathway (QLD):

  • Architect: Bachelor of Architecture (5+ years uni) + registration with Board of Architects QLD
  • Building Designer: Diploma of Building Design (TAFE) or experience-based registration pathway

School subjects:

  • Maths, English, Visual Art, Design, Graphics

You’ll need:

  • Strong design + creativity skills
  • Understanding of building codes and structure
  • Software skills (CAD programs)

Prepares technical drawings and plans

Pathway:

  • Diploma of Building Design or Architectural Drafting (TAFE)
  • Entry-level roles also possible through experience + mentoring

  • Maths, Graphics, IT, English

You’ll need:

  • Ability to read and create technical drawings
  • Attention to detail
  • CAD drafting skills (AutoCAD, Revit)

Ensures the structure is safe and compliant.

Pathway:

  • Bachelor of Engineering (4 years uni) (Civil or Structural)
  • Registration via RPEQ (Queensland Professional Engineer registration)

  • Specialist Maths, Physics, English

You’ll need:

  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Understanding loads, forces, materials
  • Site inspections + compliance knowledge

Measures land boundaries and site levels.

Pathway:

  • Bachelor of Surveying (Uni) or Diploma pathway

  • QBCC Builder Licence (required in QLD)
